Cut n’ Grill a new halal restaurant in Jakarta focused on giving all curious foodies the delicious grilled steak and ribs. Using only the freshest and highest quality ingredients yet sell in a very reasonable price. Started from IDR 55,000 for its sirloin steak (import). For the non steak dishes, Cut n’ Grill serves various delicious dish such as pasta, pizza, and dessert.

The concept of the restaurant is modern industrial with exposed bricks walls, huge window, and an open kitchen giving the foodie a comfortable and fresh ambience. Serves for 150 seats, it’s a special place to hold events.

Ridwan J Kumala, Executive Chef / Director

From the age of 15, Ridwan J Kumala had lived and studied in Melbourne, Australia. Majoring in Marketing and Hospitality industry, Ridwan had to worked as a cleaner in several restaurants due to lack of financial support. After graduated Ridwan started his career in the culinary industry as chef de partie at Rockman Regency Hotel (currently named as JW Mariott Hotel).

In 2007, after 9 years of experience as chef’s of several well-known restaurants in Melbourne such as Waterfront Grill, Wagamama Noodle, Kimchi Grandma Korean Cuisine, Tomodachi Japanese Sushi, and Bistro Vite, Ridwan decided to bring his love of culinary to Indonesia. Following his return he became the head chef of Tony Romas and Mad For Garlic restaurant.

Seeing the exciting growth of Jakarta’s food industry, Ridwan decided to open his own restaurant with the help of a dear friend chef Gustav from Portugal. His first restaurant focused on Modern European and Western cuisines, Carnivor – focused on Barbeque  with its signature dish Baby back Ribs and Steak. Since then, Ridwan focused on expanding his brand and open new restaurants with different style and concept. As of now there are 5 total restaurants Ridwan own – Carnivor (Pantai Indah Kapuk, Kelapa Gading, Sentul-Bogor) and Cut ‘n Grill (Daan Mogot). Located in North Jakarta to Sentul, Bogor, Ridwan’s restaurants ready to serve the curious foodies.

Gustav Johannes Groenendijk, Partner Chef

Gustav Johannes Groenendijk born on 1994 in Devon South England where he grew up until the age of two before moving to the Alentejo, South of Portugal in 1997. This is where he was raised in large country estate on the renowned costa Vicentina, embraced by amazing wild life, nature, food and culture. Growing up in large family, daily tasks were demanded at a young age that included cooking and many others, this is where Gustav passion for food started. “Our estate was surrounded by 50 hectares of rich land, where I helped my parents grow our biological local produce along side school, where we made our own jams, wines, olive oil, cheeses and many more”. In the year of 2004, Gustav family sold the large estate and moved to the north of Portugal where he finished his high school studies.

During his summer holidays he got his first job in a restaurant (Gosti’i beach club), as a waitress. It took Gustav only 3 days to get fired, then he proposed to have another chance working in the kitchen, and this is where it all started.

Juggling with both studying and working at Gosti’I for 2 years, Gustav then moved to Lisbon to become an apprentice alongside the renowned chef Henrique Sa Pessoa in his restaurant Alma for one year. After that, Gustav decided to take a gap year to travel to Europe and Africa to follow his passion on culture, food, and art. In 2012, while traveled around Indonesia, he realized he wanted to live and started his culinary career. Now, working together with chef Ridwan opening the best Barberque restaurant in town – Carnivor Barberque Specialist and Cut ‘n Grill.
